Milan Collections | Emporio Armani S/S 2016

Milan, the fashion capital of Italy, kicked off its fashion week today and the menswear previews were as exciting as ever. This season Emporio Armani really brought home the idea of modern vintage by partnering up with Vespa. Think Gregory Peck in the Hollywood Classic “Roman Holiday”. Guests were greeted at Giorgio Armani’s theater by a series of 945 scooters in matte black created by the brand and Vespa to inaugurate a nostalgic 1950’s feeling.

The dreamy setting continued as the models almost floated down the runway. Loose looks like wide leg trousers paired with layered yet light shirts and jackets all felt right in line with classic Armani collections of the past. Fabrications were a clear focus in the collection. From textured to crinkled fabrics, the Armani man for the Spring Summer 2016 season is definitely one of classic lines and fashion forward flair. Some pants were very roomy and pleated while others had a more athletic look cinched at the ankle.

At the opening of the show, it was quite clear that accessories can take a menswear look to a totally different level. Berets and aviator glasses, along with backpacks added a bit of edginess and mystery to each ensemble. Shoes consisted of sneakers, casual loafers with rubber soles and interesting sling back Oxfords.

Coats are a fundamental element of style and Emporio Armani never disappoints when it comes to outerwear. Soft leather jackets with modern lines, papery anoraks for a rainy day and trench coats owned the catwalk. Forever timelessly cool from over coats to jackets, guys will be sure to keep warm and dry this season.
