Presto Arrives On Android And iOS Smartphones

Foxtel’s Presto has expanded its availability after officially launching an app on select Android and iOS devices on Wednesday.

Previously only available on tablet or computer, Presto has joined video streaming on-demand competitors Quikflix and Stan with smartphone dedicated streaming content.

The launch sees Presto available on Apple iPhones 5C, 5S, 6 or 6 plus while the more complicated Android release is accessible on select Samsung, HTC, Song and LG units (listed below).

“It’s been just over a month since Presto TV landed on Android tablets and with today’s announcement, we’ve massively increased the number of devices you can use to enjoy Presto,” company director Shaun James said Wednesday.

“Presto subscribers can now enjoy our unbelievable movie and TV offering on their smartphones, allowing them to watch content when and where they want. Presto remains committed to ensuring users can access its online streaming service on as many devices as possible and we expect to make further announcements on even more devices soon.”

Already established in the app market, Stan is seeking to increase its reach by unveiling a new partnership with telco Vodafone earlier in the week.

Details of what the partnership will involve are still unclear, but early speculation suggests Stan subscribers could be in for free or discounted Spotify accounts or The Sydney Morning Herald/The Age subscriptions. Stan and Vodafone are set to “announce full details of the Stan offer in the coming weeks”.

Stan has experienced early success since launching a month ago, and two months ahead of Netflix’s upcoming foray into the Aussie market, and is reportedly nearing the 100,000 subscribers mark.
