iPad Will Allow Split-Screen Multi-Tasking in iOS 8 Update

Apple’s iPad will likely come to boast a split-screen multitasking feature when iOS 8 rolls around.

9to5Mac reports that knowledgeable sources have revealed that the iPad will soon receive a feature almost identical to Microsoft’s Surface tablets, which allows users to multitask whilst operating them by simultaneously opening up multiple applications on the tablets’ displays.

The new feature is also set to increase the iPad’s functionality in other ways, with content such as text, images and videos able to be dragged from one app to the other, which could see Apple enabling XPC support in iOS 8 that will allow developers to design App Store apps that can share content.

The split-screen feature is something that has been a big selling point for non-Apple tablets, and if Apple is finally set to introduce this feature in iOS 8 then it will be a big deal for the company and a huge blow to its competitors.
