Sorry McDonald’s, Teens Now Prefer Chick-fil-A

Maybe it has to do with the fact that McDonald’s has never had a working ice cream machine.
For years McDonald’s has been king of the fast food, but that is changing now. According to Business Insider, Chick-fil-A is now at the top of the list when it comes to fast food joints that teens enjoy. So it now seems that Big Mac has taken a backseat to overpriced chicken sandwiches. McDonald’s wasn’t the only fast food place that Chick-fil-A beat out as Chipotle, Burger King and even Starbucks were pushed back. Hell, Chick-fil-A is closed on Sundays and it is still beating out the competition.
And there’s a few reasons for this as Chick-fil-A has been at the top of the list when it comes to food quality and customer service for quite a while. It is also one of the most profitable chains in America as in 2016 it reached average sales of 4.4 million dollars.
Teens’ growing appreciation for the chain is most likely tied to the chain’s aggressive growth in recent years. While Chick-fil-A has an established cult following in the South, the chain is now gaining fans in places such as New York City and the Midwest.
In 2017, the chain reported more than $9 billion in revenue, marking 50 consecutive years of sales growth. That’s up more than $1 billion from 2016, when it earned nearly $8 billion in sales. The food-industry research firm Technomic estimates that Chick-fil-A will be the third-largest chain in the US in terms of sales by 2020, behind McDonald’s and Starbucks, BuzzFeed reported.
Chick-fil-A even recently opened in Greece and people went nuts, so it’s clear they continue to rise in popularity.
But what do the other fast food joints have to do to keep up with teens? Well, teens love challenges so I suggest promoting some sort of challenge. Maybe “The Fry Challenge,” which would consist of filling your mouth up with McDonald’s french fries until you get severely high levels of cholesterol. Oh wait, that’s a thing already.
