She told askmen.com, "I was very shy as a kid.so my mom put me in a singing group because I had a speech impediment, but the minute I got on stage, it took off.finally a talent scout found me and they felt that I had some kind of drive."
As a child, Willa Ford sang with the Tampa Bay Children's Choir when she was eight. At 11, she sang with the children's performing arts troupe, Entertainment Revue, which performed at venues like Walt Disney World and Busch Gardens. When she was 15, she joined a local foursome called FLA, but the stint was short-lived.
Willa Ford landed her first contract at 18 with MCA, but she was later dropped and subsequently signed with Atlantic Records.
Her song "Lullaby" appeared on the "Pokémon: The First Movie" soundtrack. Willa Ford recorded her first album "Willa Was Here" and then became an opening act for the Backstreet Boys. She dated Nick Carter and earned the scorn of jealous female fans. "You know, it was crappy.it was crappy only because, screw the fans, what about the fact that we were going through our relationship and this was breaking us up at the seams?"
Regarding her single 'Sexy Sex Obsessive,' she said, "The song describes every single girl that you've ever been with. When the day turns to night, it's on. Aside from music, Willa Ford was a spokesperson for Pantene, and appeared in the sitcom "Raising Dad," and competed on the third season of "Dancing with the Stars."
She also appeared in "Friday the 13th" and "The Glades," as well as pictorials in Playboy, Maxim and FHM. Willa Ford also landed a role on the Starz Network drama "Magic City." She said,
"I've put all my energy into acting, coaching and classes and working as much as I can. It's what I love." (latimes.com). She added, about her career as a singer, "That hyped-up, sexual side of me, I let it water stuff down. I would do all of it again, but I do think taking that time off helped. I recognize it now, I maintain a very solid life."
Willa Ford married Mike Modano, the retired NHL player, in 2007. They announced, however, in 2012 that they were divorcing.
According to her Twitter, she splits her time between Dallas and Los Angeles.
