Her father is a native of the Netherlands. Her parents divorced when she was seven, but they lived across the street from one another. She told In Style, "I'm a diligent person, and that came directly from having hardworking parents. They also gave me a certain amount of humility."
As an early teenager, Rebecca said she was an insecure drama geek, and was constantly in pain due to a growth spurt. She was fired from her first job at a Berkeley poultry store when she was caught licking her fingers after eating the store's rotisserie chicken for lunch (people.com).
Rebecca Romijn studied music at the University of California, Santa Cruz, but got involved in modeling and moved to Paris for over two years. "Living in Paris was a crash course in chic."
When asked by Elle magazine if she had ideas about her sexuality, she said, "You know, in my early twenties I wondered if I was interested in women and so I kind of, well.did my homework. And it turns out I'm pretty straight."
Rebecca Romijn has modeled for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, Victoria's Secret, and Miller Lite, among others. She said, "I don't mind doing sort of sexy, raunchy pictures if there's a sense of humor about it." She later said of modeling, "I was getting very antsy and restless just modeling. I was bored off my ass, basically. It's not a very stimulating job."
Rebecca began seguing into hosting (MTV's "House of Style") and landed her first major movie role as Mystique in 2000's "X-Men." She returned for the sequel. Her costume consisted of blue make-up and prosthetics on her otherwise nude body. She said, "It was a drag to sit through eight hours of makeup and then be expected to act and be evil, when I was ready to pull my hair out" (Chicago Tribune).
More film roles followed, including "Femme Fatale," "Rollerball," "The Punisher," "Godsend," and television roles in "Pepper Dennis" and "Ugly Betty."
In 2005, Rebecca Romijn got engaged to actor Jerry O'Connell. After a trip to California wine country, he gave her a vineyard " 800 vines of grapes. She told In Style, "It was the most romantic gift ever."
They were married on their ranch in Southern California in 2007. She gave birth to their twins, Dolly Rebecca Rose and Charlie Tamara Tulip in 2008.
