January's name comes from a character in "Once is Not Enough." She's said, "People think I changed my name. I could've been an actress, a superhero, or a stripper." As a kid, January Jones wanted to be a meteorologist or a marine biologist.
January Jones got her start as a model for Abercrombie & Fitch before breaking into acting. Upon moving to New York, she said, "I was excited to be independent, but I was also naïve " I just wanted to be rich and famous.there were a billion girls in New York City who wanted to be models. After a while, I was immune to rejection, which helped when I went out to L.A. to become an actress. In modeling, the criteria is purely aesthetic. So when I got to L.A., I didn't care if they said I was too small, too blonde, too pretty or not pretty enough." January Jones spent most of her time in Hollywood playing "girlfriend" roles.
January has had roles in the TV show "Law & Order," and film roles in "Anger Management," "Love, Actually," "Dirty Dancing," and "We Are Marshall." But it is her role as Betty Draper on the AMC series "Mad Men" that put her on the road to stardom. January Jones earned a Golden Globe and Emmy nomination.
Since then, January Jones has appeared as telepath Emma Frost in 2011's "X-Men: First Class."
Jones has said about acting, "I've never been trained as an actress, so it's all instinct. I just let myself go into this free fall. Sometimes I feel scared, or out of my element " like everyone else knows what they're doing but me" (interviewmagazine.com).
January Jones is a football fanatic. She told W magazine, "The most starstruck I get is around football players." When asked about success, she said, "Success for me is to feel happy " 80 percent of the time. That's been my goal in life.I'm not quite sure I'll ever feel this, but I want to know how to be happy. I'm happy when I'm at work. I'm happy when I'm with my family or my dog. But, you know, there's always that feeling of, I'm not satisfied. January Jones gave birth to a son, Xander Dane Jones in 2011. She has not named who the father is. January Jones lives in Los Angeles.
