Christina began her acting career in children's musical theatre productions and later became a model from 18 to 27.

Surprisingly, Christina Hendricks is a natural blond who went red at the age of 10. She said, "I was obsessed with the Canadian novel 'Anne of Green Gables.' There was something that spoke to me about her and I wanted to have her beautiful red hair." Christina's mother took her to the drugstore and bought her "one of those cover-the-gray rinses."

Christina Hendricks has appeared in numerous television shows, including "The Big Time," "The Court," "Kevin Hill," "ER," "Angel," "Miss Match," "Tru Calling," "Presidio Med," "Without a Trace," "Las Vegas," and "Life," but it is her role as Joan Holloway on the Emmy-winning AMC series "Mad Men" that she is most popular.

Said Hendricks of her role, "I love playing Joan because she's such a departure from who I am. In season one I thought, 'Oh Lord, this woman is terrifying " I couldn't be her friend.' But now I think I would be friends with Joan because she's so strong and pretty wonderful. I'd just ask her not to tell me what she really thinks all the time."

Christina Hendricks plays the accordion, and showcased her talent on an episode of "Mad Men." She has also appeared in the feature film "Drive," starring Carey Mulligan and Ryan Gosling.

When asked about working in different mediums (TV, film, a video game), Hendricks said, "I love each and every [role I play] and I feel so lucky that I get to try all of them. But just as far as trust and quality and knowing and loving the people that I work with, it's 'Mad Men.'"

Even more than her acting, she is known for her hourglass figure. Christina Hendricks has been called the "new modern ideal of Hollywood glamour " full figured, voluptuous; a throwback to the days of Marilyn Monroe, Jane Russell and Veronica Lake."

Christina Hendricks said of her body, "This is the way I'm built, and I feel beautiful. It's funny, because I don't feel like I look that different from anybody. Everyone's always like, 'You're so much smaller in person!'" On her curves, she said, "I've been on TV shows for years and no one said a word about it. All of a sudden.it's strange how astounded people are that I have breasts." "I was working my butt off on the show, and then all anyone was talking about was my body."

Christina Hendricks has been married to Geoffrey Arend since 2009. She lives in Los Angeles.
