Carla Campbell was the first Caribbean model to be featured in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. She said, "When I go back home, it's like 'Yeah! A Sports Illustrated swimsuit model! It's a great feeling." She said when they called it was like "Oh my God, finally I get to do this magazine! I've always wanted to do it. I'd look and think, oh, that could be me, I really want to do this.and here I am!" She said while wearing a swimsuit, "I like this one.it covers very little."
Carla Campbell has worked for L'Oreal, Nike, Avon, Seventeen magazine, Footlocker, Miller Beer, Maxim, Target and Fubu. She also graced the cover of UK Esquire in August 2005.

She has been associated with Pulse Models, Heffner Management, IMG Models, L.A. Models and MC2 Model Management. Her favorite word is "Zeen." "It's Jamaican and means everything is all right or understood."
Carla Campbell said, "Modeling is not all glam and glitz but hard work" (askmen.com).
She said of her body parts, "I think my lips are very sensual and I'd like to keep them that way. You look at my lips and you think: 'Whoa, I'd like to kiss that girl!"
Carla told revengefashionmagazine.com, "I've been modeling; it's been 10 years. So it's been very good. I got what I expected." When asked about advice to young models, she said, "It's kinda hard. It's rough. But if you believe in it, if it is something you really want to do, I would say go for it. I did it. So if I did, you can do it."
As of 2012, Carla Campbell is a mother to a 14-month old son, Isaiah. "Everything is going pretty good. I have absolutely no regrets becoming a mother. It has really been a great thing" (Jamaica Observer). She added, "I really wanted to take some time off to be with my baby. It has been just over a year and I am now ready to return to what I love doing, which is modeling " most definitely."
Carla Campbell now holds a Master's degree in business management. She is set to make her return to the Caribbean Fashion week soon.
