Raised a strict Catholic, she is a mix of Brazilian and Anglo-American ancestry. She was named after a famous Brazilian's soap opera's character, Camilla from "Cavalo de Aco." She is fluent in English and Portuguese. As a child, she went to St. Paul's Catholic Elementary School and then the all-girls high school, Marlborough School.
Camilla began modeling at only nine months old for a print ad. When she was five, she appeared in "Trapped Beneath the Earth." Other roles followed over the years, including parts in "Rip Girls," "When a Stranger Calls," "10,000 BC," "Push," "The Patriot," "Walker: Texas Ranger," "Practical Magic," among many others.
Camilla Belle said, "My friends would be on a soccer team or play baseball, and this just happened to be what I did. I would leave for a month and go do a movie and then come back. It was just kind of my hobby. Then when I took three years off to stay at school, I started to really miss acting.now it's something that I realize I am really passionate about and want to continue" (interviewmagazine.com).

She said, "I'm not a dark person at all, so those roles are the most challenging. I don't think I'm necessarily drawn to darks things. It just seems to work out that way" (askmen.com).
From 2006 to 2008, she also modeled for Vera Wang's Princess fragrance.
In 2011, Camilla Belle made People's list of "Most Beautiful People in the World."
When asked about the media attention on young actors, Camilla said, "I've never been concerned about it, and I think you can't be, or else you'll become quite neurotic " if you worry about every little thing that's written about you, or everything people say about you. Because you can respond to things all you want, but people are going to write what they want to write, and you can't change that. I think the more you distance yourself from it and the more you keep to your own.that's the most important thing" (blackbookmag.com).
Camilla Belle is a spokeswoman for "Kids With a Cause," which helps kids suffering from poverty, hunger, neglect or abuse.
Camilla Belle would like to "continue learning more languages.I love art history as well. There are so many things that I'm interested in, that I can't really pinpoint what I'd want to be."
