After smearing her hair what her character had thought was styling gel, Cameron followed her newfound popularity with five movies in 1999, which included the black comedy cult-classic Being John Malcovich, and the football-drama Any Given Sunday, directed by Oliver Stone.
"If I have any goal at all it's just to work with great directors and great actors," Diaz told iVillage UK, "I've never planned anything - I can't make plans, I can't keep 'em, I'm so bad. But the one thing that has always been consistent, I think, with my choices is that it's always been about the people I get to work with. people I admire, who are creative and wonderful."
The 2000's saw Diaz starring in two successful franchises, Shrek (2001) and Charlie's Angels (2000) leading to her becoming the highest paid actress in Hollywood, earning $40,000,000 in 2001 alone. The following year she starred in Martin Scorcese's epic period piece Gangs of New York alongside Leonardo Decaprio and Daniel Day Lewis, for which she earned her fourth Golden Globe nomination.

In 2003 Diaz began a very publicized three-year relationship with singer Justin Timberlake, who's nine years the starlet's junior. The power couple was hounded to by photographers so much that there were several incidents when either Timberlake or Diaz were accused of assaulting paparazzi.
In a 2004 altercation Diaz even took the camera of one of the assailants and turned it into the police in hopes that they could be identified. This resulted in the men filing a suit, which was settled out of court in 2005.
Diaz has also dated Yankee's Third Basemen Alex Rodruiguez, a relationship the baseball player was mocked heavily for after she was seen feeding him popcorn at Super Bowl 45. The now 40-year-old actress told InStyle magazine, "I would never have guessed that I would end up dating any of the guys I've dated " never!"
Since then the star has remained just as popular, in 2011 Diaz was voted #4 on Maxim's Hot 100, and still commands $34,000,000 per year. In 2010, she was named Forbes Magazine wealthiest Hispanic female celebrity.
