Anne was raised Catholic and as a child wanted to grow up to be a nun. But upon finding out at 15 that her brother was gay, "I couldn't support a religion that didn't support my brother. Now I call myself a nondominational Christian, because I haven't found the religion for me."

Anne Hathaway spent time at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York before transferring to New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study. Anne Hathaway was the first teenager admitted into The Barrow Group Theatre Company's acting program.

At the age of 16, she was cast in the TV show, "Get Real." Her first role in a film was "The Other Side of Heaven," but it was her role in "The Princess Diaries" that made Hollywood take notice. Other roles followed, including "Havoc," (where she went topless) "Brokeback Mountain," "The Devil Wears Prada," "Bride Wars," "Get Smart," and "Rachel Getting Married" (which earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Actress.) Anne Hathaway told EW of working with Meryl Strep, "Acting against [Streep] was like taking a cold bath of terror every day. I was always ready to wet my pants."

In 2008, she became the face of Lancôme for their fragrance Magnifique. In 2010, Anne Hathaway co-hosted the Academy Awards.

Anne Hathaway said of acting, "I love learning about new parts of myself through characters, and getting lost in people and learning how to breathe differently because all of sudden you're this different person" (aceshowbiz.com).

But Anne Hathaway may be best known as Catwoman in Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises," released in 2012.

Anne Hathaway is involved with the charities St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, The Creative Coalition and The Step Up Women's Network, among others.

Anne Hathaway was involved with Raffaello Follieri, who was arrested in 2008 on fraud charges for allegedly fleecing investors. In 2006, she told Harper's Bazaar, "My boyfriend is incredible in a lot of ways.one of the most untouted aphrodisiacs in the world is charity work. Seriously, you want a girl to be impressed, vaccinate some kids, build a house." She later said, "When I turned 25, I realized I was never going to be precocious again. Now I can just be an actress." He and Anne Hathaway subsequently broke up and she began dating Adam Schulman. They married in September 2012 and live New York.
