She began modeling at the early age of 12, and as a result received little schooling. At the age of 15, she won Brazil's Elite Model Look, her first big break.
Ambrosio made the cover of Brazil's Elle magazine, followed by many others, including Vogue, Cosmopolitan and GQ. She became the face of several big brand ads like Armani, Ralph Lauren and Revlon, among others.
