Rhona Mitra is a mix of Indian (her father is from Calcutta) and Irish ancestry. She said, “It’s a confusing heritage. I never know if I want to be running across the fields with no clothes on or sitting in the pub drinking Guinness.” She also has two butterflies tattooed on her stomach.
Her parents divorced when she was young, and at the age of 8, Rhona was sent off to a boarding school. She was subsequently expelled from both of the all-girls schools she attended. “I just had a problem with complying with rules. I went to a convent school and it was totally ridiculous. We weren’t even allowed to go into town at the weekend.”
As a teenager, Rhona Mitra took part of the club scene and developed a drug habit. “I was a wild child, a real nutter. I was a complete loon, but I don’t regret a bit of it.” She later turned her life around and went to drama school for one year (askmen.com).

Rhona appeared in British shows, such as “Ghostbusters of East Finchley” and “The Man Who Made Husbands Jealous.” Her big break was the part of Lara Croft from “Tomb Raider,” where she went to trade shows in character. She even had breast enhancement surgery to increase her similarity to the character. There was a rumor that her father performed the surgery, to which Rhona said, “That was rubbish. My dad is a surgeon and he does do some cosmetic surgery, but he doesn’t perform breast operations.” Rhona was disappointed to lose the role of Lara Croft in the feature film to Angelina Jolie.
Rhona continued up the Hollywood chain, appearing on “Party of Five,” “Gideon’s Crossing” and “The Practice,” among other projects.
She said she has always been faithful. “I haven’t actually been out with that many men.” Rhona likes men who are healthy-looking with good, clean skin. “And I like men who have brains but are still very childish. Immature guys.”
Rhona Mitra said she goes skydiving “as a will-power thing. I was interested to see how much fear I would have, and it’s not a lot actually. I got quite bored when I was hanging in the air.”
Aside from acting, she recorded an album “Come Alive” with Dave Stewart.
When not traveling for work, she lives in Los Angeles, California.
