Raquel Pomplun is a biochemistry major from Southwestern College and a classically trained ballerina. She is from Chula Vista, California and spent some of her childhood in Tijuana. She attended Bonita Vista high school and her nickname was “Rock.”
Raquel got into the pages of “Playboy” by accident, and only submitted her photos to a casting call after being encouraged by her co-workers. Then she got a phone call, did some test shoots and history was made.

As a Playmate of the Year, Raquel Pomplun received $100K in cash and a lease to a 2014 red Jaguar F-Type. She is the first Mexican-American Playmate of the Year and hosts Blackbelt TV’s “Rockin’ Rounds” and is the co-host of Playboy Radio’s “Playmates Present.”
Raquel said, “Playboy has taught me a side of myself that I did not know existed. It’s been a year of wonderful surprises.” Apparently, her cover photo of her wearing panties and curlers was taken when she had a fever of 103. She said, “Honestly, I’m thinking I’m so grateful that they look okay because I had a fever in these pictures.”
Raquel added, “I always boast that I’m from Tijuana wherever I go,” and that she is the first model from Tijuana to appear in a Playboy cover.

Raquel Pomplun plans to return to San Diego after her commitment with Playboy ends and to go back to college. She wants to attend UCSD and study biochemical engineering. However, she added, “I’m going to model until I’m too old to do it.”
