Alam originally had planned to study aircraft mechanics at the University of Technology for Aviation until being discovered shopping with her mother. Which is lucky for her because she told Maxim Magazine, "I found the Technology school boring.I think I would have been much happier if I was studying quantum physics or astronomy or something like that." After a turbulent relationship in post-Soviet Union Moscow (her boyfriend brought a buddy home one day for a nice game of Russian Roulette) Alam made her way, modeling across Europe where eventually she met her now former husband Amir Ebrahim Pahlavi Alam, the grandson of the former Shah of Iran.
Alam has appeared in Maxim, FHM and the Venezualan (2010), American (2009), and Russian (1998) versions of Playboy.
Despite being divorced since 2005, Alam still holds the title of "Princess" from her marriage since it is not revoked until he remarries. The enormous amounts of money that came with being royalty meant that Alam could now study acting and take vocal lessons. (FHM.com)
She told Maxim Magazine that she learned English in her early 20's from books and American movies. She was fearful that people would think she wasn't as bright because she couldn't understand them. (Maxim.com)
Her first role was in the short lived Fox TV show Fastlane in 2002 and has been in CSI, NYPD Blue, Nip/Tuck, The Unit, Entourage, and American Heiress. From 2004 to 2007, Alam had a reoccurring role on the Bold and the Beautiful. Her most popular role since then is 'Yvette,' the newest stripper at the club Fagntasia on the 2011 season of True Blood, a show that she's been wanting to be on since the pilot. (FHM.com)
The first time she met costar Alexander Skarsgard, who plays her love interest 'Eric Northman,' the two were completely nude and she told Maxim Magazine that the entire experience was awkward, to say the least. "Well, he just walked in, dropped his robe, no socks, nothing!" she said, "Usually they hide parts with a special nude underwear thing. I'm like, OK, I guess it's not that scary. It gave me a lot of confidence that he was so cool about it and didn't even bother to wear a robe or anything like that." (Maxim.com)
In 2011 Alam ranked #80 on FHM's 100 Sexiest Women list, is the lead singer of the band Shangra-La, and studies Wushu, a type of Chinese martial art. She says that one of her goals is to be a serious actor and has several projects set to release in the coming years including the New York Crime Drama The Projectionist.
