Her distinguishing feature is a long, thin scar on her left side that goes from the side of her breast and loops around to the top of her upper back, and a black block tattoo with a heart. Tired of explaining her name, she goes by the nickname “Q.”

Mariqueen was born in Cagayan de Oro, but moved to the United States when she was four years old. While her family spoke Tagalog, Visayan and Spanish, they didn’t teach Mariqueen any other language besides English “so that she wouldn’t acquire the accent that comes with learning them” (nickeedeleon.workpress.com).

Mariqueen said her upbringing was family-oriented, and even though she was an only child, she grew up with a lot of cousins. She also grew up a strict Catholic.

She got into music after hating her day job. “I was working a really, really uninspiring computer job.” She liked to sing, and had attended fashion school.

Before forming “How To Destroy Angels” in 2010 with Trent Reznor, she was part of the band “West Indian Girl” from 2004 to 2009. (The band was named after a strain of LSD.)

“How To Destroy Angels” released two EPS, “How to Destroy Angels” and “An Omen.” A full album is expected shortly.

It’s also reported she never wears panties when performing. “Never. I like to be as aerodynamic as possible. I don’t worry about a wardrobe malfunction. If it happens, it happens. It probably has. But it’s not as if I’m doing high kicks up there” (rightcelebrity.com).

Mariqueen Maandig has also posed for Playboy. “I’m not ashamed of my body, and I certainly won’t dress to hide it. My whole family is built this way, with tiny waists. We were corseted by God.”

Maandig said she met Trent Reznor under “unusual circumstances.” They were engaged in 2009 and married that same year in a private ceremony in Reznor’s home. In October 2010, Maandig gave birth to a son, Lazarus Echo.

Per bandconcerts.proboards.com, Mariqueen is frightened of needles, stinging insects, the dark, and losing loved ones. Her weaknesses include getting frustrated easily, first person shooter games, and decadent things like spas and expensive soaps. She sometimes has night terrors, and was raped when she was a teenager.
