She is one of seven children (six girls and one boy; she is the third oldest) and said about growing up in Pensacola, “Well, Pensacola isn’t Florida, really. It’s the Panhandle. It’s right up there near Alabama and Louisiana. It’s like a stroll away from New Orleans. I feel like New Orleans is home.”
Katy Mixon speaks highly of coming from an incredible and supportive family. She got into entertainment, as her father was in a band; her grandfather owned a movie theatre, and her mother was a runner-up in the Miss Louisiana pageant. “It was just kind of in our genes.” Growing up, she was involved in community theatre.
She performed as a member of an acting company in Cedar City, Utah before moving to Los Angeles in 2003. Before making it big, she was in two failed TV pilots and a short film called “Zombie Prom” that starred RuPaul (askmen.com). She has also appeared in “My Name Is Earl,” “The Quiet,” “Four Christmases,” “State of Play” and “All About Steve,” among others.

Katy Mixon attended Carnegie Mellon University and said, “I was immersed in the conservatory. And they mean business. You kind of stay confined in the walls of drama. A lot of people don’t know that my background is completely classical.”
Katy Mixon said, unlike her character on “Mike & Molly,” that she hasn’t done weed. “I have never done that. I have never handled the weed situation.” She added, “I’m a partier, but maybe not as much as my characters are.”
Katy Mixon used a body double for her take on “Eastbound & Down,” and said she never really met her body double. “Darling, can I tell you something? It was an interesting situation. It’s surreal to see your boobs walking around the corner, coming right at you,” (vanityfair.com).
Katy Mixon lives in Los Angeles and has a net worth of over $2 million. She has been romantically linked with Bobby Deen, the son of TV Chef Paula Deen.
