She has a younger brother. While growing up, Jessica Biel participated in gymnastics and soccer, though her family often moved. She told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, "[Soccer star Mia Hamm] was the person I wanted to be, not a supermodel. I wanted ripped abs, muscular thighs, beautiful arms." Before becoming an actress, Jessica Biel trained as a singer. She told the Toronto Sun, "Singing is the one thing that gives you that, that feeling. You know that feeling? I just love that feeling."
Jessica Biel attended Tufts University.
As a child, Jessica appeared in local theatre productions, and at 14, landed the role of Mary Camden on the drama "7th Heaven." Jessica Biel's film debut came in "Ulee's Gold." Though she auditioned for the film "American Beauty," she didn't get the part and blamed it on her image as the preacher's daughter on "7th Heaven."
Jessica Biel posed topless in the March 2000 issue of Gear when she was still under the age of 18. Though Jessica regrets the spread, she "achieved the image reinvention that allowed her to part ways with the wholesome show that put her on the map" (people.com). Jessica Biel told the Boston Herald, "I wanted to please people, and I got in over my head. My family was humiliated and so upset. And my grandmother " my poor grandmother. I would love to take it back."
Other roles followed, including parts in "I'll Be Home for Christmas," "Summer Catch," "The Rules of Attraction," "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre," "Blade: Trinity," "The Illusionist," "Home of the Brave," "Next," "Stealth," "The A-Team," "Total Recall," and "New Year's Eve."
Jessica Biel told Allure that her good looks are a drawback in casting. "It really is a problem."
Jessica Biel said dating Justin Timberlake is hard, "the hardest part of this whole wonderful, bizarre lifestyle and profession. You have to be Zen about it, because it can make you crazy. There are times when I've been followed by men with giant cameras in giant SUVs all day long. It scares the crap out of me and I literally come home and emotionally erupt and cry it out and sit on the floor and think, 'Do I really want this?" (marieclaire.com).
About aging, Jessica Biel said, "I just feel changes. And I'm definitely fearful in a very vain manner about my body ageing. I think it's freaky weird to look at picture of your grandmother when she was a young woman and look at her now." She noted, plastic surgery isn't for her, "I am really afraid of blades on my face. That freaks me out beyond belief. I would way rather have wrinkles than have some slice-up going on."
Jessica Biel lives in Los Angeles.
