She loved volleyball, as she was tall and skinny. At 14, Gisele Bundchen took a course for models to improve her posture. During the course, modeling scouts discovered her. In 1995, Gisele moved to Sao Paulo to start her modeling career, but faced a lot of rejection because many people thought her nose was too big.
Gisele slowly booked work, and even travelled to Japan. Her first cover was for the Brazilian teen magazine Capricho followed by a cover of Brazil's Marie Claire. By age 16, she had participated in many Brazilian fashion shows. In 1997, she moved to New York and couldn't speak English. Through up and downs, she landed her first United States cover on Allure.
Gisele eventually became on of the most sought-after models on the catwalk, walking in more than 110 international fashion shows alone in 1999. But it was in 2000 that she signed with Victoria's Secret and her fame exploded. A 33-foot high billboard of her image for Victoria's Secret was featured in New York.
That same year, she was dubbed the "Boobs from Brazil" for inspiring the many breast enhancement surgeries performed in Brazil.
Gisele Bundchen became the face for many fashion houses including Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Celine, Dior and many more. In 2004, she began adding "actress" to her resume with her appearance in "Taxi" with Jimmy Fallon and Queen Latifah.

In 2005, during a show on the catwalk in Sao Paulo, a fan threw a long letter at Gisele's feet. The gesture was included in Rank Brazil " the Book of Records " as the longest letter ever written to an idol.
That same year, for the fourth consecutive year, Forbes placed her on the list of 100 most powerful celebrities on the planet. In 2011, Forbes estimated that Gisele Bundchen's total earnings over the last 10 years have surpassed $250 million.
Gisele Bundchen supports many socio-environmental causes and in 2009 was designated "Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Environment Programme." In 2011, Gisele Bundchen was awarded Greenest Celebrity at the International Green Awards.
From 2000 to 2005 Gisele Bundchen dated actor Leonardo DiCaprio. She married New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady in 2009. The same year, Gisele Bundchen gave birth to a boy named Benjamin Rein Brady. She lives in a reported $20 million mansion in Brentwood, California.
