She has two sisters and one brother. Eva was raised in Los Angeles as a Roman Catholic and reportedly wanted to be a nun when she was a child until she found out they didn't get paid.
Because of her overbite, her siblings used to call her "Bugs" and she thought she looked like a bottle opener. She feels her best feature is her childbearing hips (though it's been reported she doesn't want kids.) Eva speaks Spanish fluently and English is her second language.

She can switch between comedy ("Stuck on You") and action ("Ghost Rider").
Aside from acting, she has also been the spokesperson for a variety of companies including Cocio chocolate milk, Magnum ice cream, Revlon, Calvin Klein, Cartier, and a host of others.
Of her sexuality, she said, "It's fun to be a woman. It's fun to flirt and wear makeup and have boobs."
In 2008, she spent time at the Cirque Lodge addiction facility, but has not spoken about what ailed her.
She runs a home décor line, Vida and has launched bed linens and dinnerware, available at Macy's.

Eva Mendes dated George Augusto from 2002 to 2010 and is now seeing Ryan Gosling. She is a graduate of Hoover High School in Glendale, and later attended California State University, but dropped out to pursue acting. Eva Mendes supports charities like World Education and The Lunchbox Fund.
