Eva Green is a mix of Algerian, Turkish, Swedish and Spanish ancestry. “I feel like a citizen of the world. Life and cinema don’t have borders.”
Her father is a Swedish dentist and her mother is an Algerian-born French actress. Eva has a variety of schooling under belt. She studied in French schools until she was 17 and then English in Ramsgate, Kent, and then the American School in France. For three years, she studied acting at Saint Paul Drama School, as well as stints at Weber Douglass Academy and Tisch School of the Arts. Growing up, she said, “I was very studious, too much. I would never go out at weekends. I was very serious. You should have seen me in class – I was blushing and sweating every time the teacher asked me something.”
Eva Green made her on-screen debut in Bernardo Bertolucci’s “The Dreamers.” She also appears fully nude. She said, “I don’t why [Americans] can’t see naked people on screen but we can see a baby being killed. It’s quite strange. They’re too puritan, too uptight.” Interestingly, Eva also composed original music for the film and recorded several tracks for the score.
Eva Green has also appeared in “Dark Shadows,” “The Golden Compass” and “Camelot.” She said of acting, “It’s not a job. It’s almost like a faith or a religion. Every time, I give a bit of my soul.” She added in a later interview, for the Bond movie, she had to do interviews for crappy magazines and they asked her personal questions. “I don’t like it – it kills the dream.”

Eva Green stays in shape through running and Pilates, and has described herself as shy. So shy, she said, her mother sent her to a therapist when she was young.
Regarding social media, Eva Green vowed never to use Twitter, saying it would be “masochistic” to document her life online. She doesn’t even read articles about herself on the Internet. “Googling myself was awful. I remember reading nasty things about my physique – they say terrible things about the work or what you look like. There’s a lot of freedom on the Internet, but it can be too much.”
Aside from acting and music, she has modeled in campaigns for Emporio Armani, Lancôme, Dior and Montblanc.
Eva Green is single and splits her time between London and Paris.
