Erica was born in Calgary, Canada and is of French Canadian descent. She grew up on a turkey farm. Her father was a truck driver and her mother was a librarian. “I went to a tiny little high school…I’d make my foray into Calgary if I wanted to see a movie or do something crazy.”

She got the acting bug and appeared in plays at her church. Once she graduated from high school, Erica Durance moved to Vancouver to pursue a career in acting. “I wanted to get my feet wet in a smaller area than Los Angeles.” She studied her craft at the Yaletown Actors Lab.
At the age of 18, she married her first husband and took the last name Parker. The couple divorced in 1999, but she is still credited in her early work as Erica Parker.
She appeared nude in “House of the Dead,” and later guest-starred on “The Chris Isaak Show.” Other roles followed, but it was her role on “Smallville” that made her star. She joined the show in its 4th season and stayed with the show until its completion in 2011.
Erica Durance said she’s a little like Lois in the “way that I fly by the seat of my pants a little bit.” As for the fans she meets at conventions, she said, “It’s quite overwhelming what they know. You never want to assume you know more than they do, because they’ll beat you every time.”
She denies having had plastic surgery, and says her body is all-natural and comes from all the hard work she puts in at the gym. Erica added, “Besides that fact that I don’t like the idea of surgery and going under, I have these freakish ideas that you’d be awake during surgery and it totally freaks me out.”
Aside from acting, she enjoys singing and is a trained singer.
Her phobias include water and birds.
She said, “I’m fairly introverted, but when I do stuff like a Maxim shoot, there’s a side of me I call Gillian.” Erica Durance resides in Vancouver, Canada.
