Emma Catherine Rigby was born in St Helens, Merseyside, England on September 26, 1989, the younger sister of two. As a teen, she attended De La Salle High School in St Helens, modeling when she could and even landing small guest roles on such TV series as 2003's "Born and Bred" and the long-running British soap opera, "Brookside." By the time she was 15, Emma was cast in the biggest role of her young career on another long-running soap, "Hollyoaks." She played the role of Hannah Ashworth, which would eventually go on to win her the title of "Best Actress" at the British Soap Awards in 2008, as well as nominations for numerous others.
"Hollyoaks" occupied most of Emma's time until November of 2008, when she announced her plans to depart the show the following year. However, she would go on to extend her contract with series until February of 2010, and even made appearances on its spin-off, "Hollyoaks Later," as the same character from the main series. Once she was officially finished on "Hollyoaks," Emma's television career continued to boom, landing roles on series such as "Fresh Meat" and "Prisoner's Wives" before again being cast in a prominent role on ABC's "Once Upon a Time in Wonderland" in 2013.
Of course, Emma's career isn't constricted to just television. Towards the end of her run on "Hollyoaks,"she starred in two shorts, "A Kingdom Without a King" and "Talk," before playing slasher fodder in the horror film, "Demons Never Die" in 2011. Since then, she played a small role in Ridley Scott's "The Counselor," as well as nabbed roles in 2014's "Plastic" and the remake, "Endless Love."
