Emily Irene VanCamp was born on May 12, 1986 in Port Perry, Ontario, Canada. She is one of the middle children of four sisters. By age 3, Emily was already dancing. She studied many different forms, including jazz, tap, hip-hop and ballet. However, ballet is the one that stuck. By age 12, she was accepted into the prestigious L'Ecole Superieure de Danse de Quebec, which was the official training program of the Grands Ballet Canadians.

Things were shaping up great in the dancing department until Emily took a trip to visit one of her sisters on a movie set where they had been cast as a ballerina. Suddenly, Emily was bitten by the acting bug herself. It wasn't long before she was cast in her first role on the children's series "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" After more small roles including a part in the film "Lost & Delirious," Emily was finally cast in her first series regular role on the series "Glory Days." It wasn't until this series' cancellation that Emily caught her first true big break.
Emily was soon cast in the series "Everwood," which lasted from 2002 to 2006. And even though this show was cancelled as well, she was able to hop right into "Brothers & Sisters," which she starred in from 2007 to 2010. Yes, things were looking up for the rising star. It wasn't long until the young Canadian was starring in her third major television series, ABC's "Revenge," in 2011.
As for Emily's career on the big screen, you can catch her as Agent 13 in the Marvel superhero follow-up "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" on April 4, 2014.
