She grew up wanting to be a veterinarian, but got sidetracked after her family moved to Matthews, North Carolina and she was discovered by the owner of a modeling agency in a shopping mall while still in high school.
Her first modeling gig was as the face of Mauri Simone, a prom dressmaker. She said, "It was so cool because everybody at school had a copy." In 2003, she won Model of the Year at the Connections Model and Talent Convention.
Her career continued to rise, with pictorials in Glamour, Teen Vogue and FHM, as well as spreads in Sports Illustrated starting in 2006, and becoming a regular in their annual issue. She also appeared in music videos for Jimmy Buffett and the band 3 Doors Down. In 2008, she rang the New York Stock Exchange bell at opening day with other Sports Illustrated models.
Brooklyn Decker is probably best known for her cover of Sports Illustrated in 2010 posing in the Maldive Islands (without her top). Most models would be lucky to have just one plum gig, but Decker also modeled in 2010 for Victoria's Secret "Swim" collection. She appeared topless in a black and white nude photo shoot for photographer Mark Squires.
While modeling, she made the leap into acting with guest appearances on "Chuck," (where she played a model applying to be a "Buy More Girl,") "Royal Pains," (where she played a swimsuit model) and "Ugly Betty" (where she played a gorgeous but inept assistant). Brooklyn Decker has also been a guest judge on Germany's "Next Top Model." Not long after, her resume grew with parts in feature films, including the 2011 Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler comedy "Just Go With It," (as Palmer) "Battleship" (as Sam, the girlfriend of Alex Hopper) and most recently "What to Expect When You're Expecting" (as Skyler).
For her part in "Battleship," she said, "They kept bringing me in [for auditions] and telling me I wasn't tough enough." Engaged in March 2008 to retired tennis player Andy Roddick, they married in April 2009. An animal lover, she has four dogs and a cat. Even though she lives in Austin, Texas, she is still a Tar Heel basketball fan and cheers for the "Carolina Panthers."
Brooklyn Decker is a graduate of the David W. Butler High School in Matthews, North Carolina.
