Cameron Diaz Is Done With Acting So Forget About A Proper ‘The Mask’ Sequel

I’m not saying that people were praying to all the Gods upstairs hoping for a sequel to The Mask, even with that atrocious Jamie Kennedy movie, Son of the Mask. But if you were all on board for a sequel to the film that made Cameron Diaz a star, well you can forget about it because apparently she’s done with acting.

The 45-year-old hasn’t herself said she’s done with acting, but her pal Selma Blair (who she co-star in The Sweetest Thing with) pretty much spilled the beans. Here’s what Blair said at an Oscars pre-party:

“I had lunch with Cameron the other day, we were reminiscing about the film [The Sweetest Thing]. I would have liked to do a sequel but Cameron’s retired from acting, she’s like ‘I’m done’. I mean, she doesn’t need to make any more films, she has a pretty great life, I don’t know what it would take to bring her back.”

Maybe another chance to play Princess Fiona in Shrek would bring her back. Or maybe enticing her with a sequel to There’s Something About Mary or Bad Teacher may be enough. OK, probably not, but it doesn’t seem like she’ a huge massive box office draw anymore.

Diaz also once revealed that the biggest issues with her acting job is the constant traveling. I figured like a few million dollars would cure that, but it doesn’t seem so.

So while Diaz hasn’t confirmed her retirement, it certainly sounds like she’s done. So if you were a fan of seeing Diaz and Daniel Day-Lewis in Gangs of New York, you can pretty much forget about ever seeing them together in a film again.

But at least we’ll always have this:
