She explored hobbies ranging from bungee jumping, Muay Tai boxing, and even playing guitar, before being discovered at age 15 by ICE Model Management. Her new career in modeling was soon taking her all around the world to locations such as Paris, Germany, Thailand, and New York. She then began to act in commercials, appearing in over 20 that were shown internationally. Among her most popular were ads for Volvic, Aqua Mineral, and Transitions eyeglasses.

She appeared on the South African version of FHM's "100 Sexiest Women" list several times, as well as on the covers of such publications as Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, and Shape. Furthermore, she has appeared in the pages of Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Issue on numerous occasions as well.
In 2004, Tanit appeared on the cover of a German Maxim magazine after a successful Fa shower gel commercial in Europe that had her skydiving while stripping her clothes off. Soon after, she was named the "Who's That Girl?" at the magazine's Woman of the Year Awards, which lead to her start in the acting world. Her first TV series role was on "Charlie Jade" in 2005. She then went on to star in her first feature film, "Maya," the same year. She has gone on to share the screen with such famous Hollywood actors as Nicolas Cage and Jared Leto in "Lord of War," Wesley Snipes in "Gallowwalkers," and Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds in 2012's "Safe House."
