Skyler Samuels is an actress probably best known for her roles on “The Nine Lives of Chloe King,” “The Stepfather” and “Furry Vengeance.” Most recently, she landed a recurring role on “American Horror Story: Freak Show” as a local who finds herself in a tough situation.
Skyler Samuels was raised in Los Angeles; her mother is a producer for unscripted series, and her father is a U.S. Marshall. She has three brothers and a sister. Her measurements are 30B-24-32. Her nicknames include Skye or Sky.
Skyler Samuels described her journey into acting as part of living in Los Angeles. “I’ve always been enamored by Hollywood and the industry. It’s just something I grew up with, and I loved it. I’ve always been drawn to it. I want to be on the screen, I want to play dress up every day, I want to be different people, I want to have fun, and I want to use my imagination,” (collider.com).
She’s also appeared in a variety of other series including “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody,” “That’s So Raven” and “Wizards of Waverly Place.”
When asked about auditioning, she said, “It seems that there’s this endless stream of teen talent, but Hollywood’s a small town and teen Hollywood’s even smaller. It’s never a competition with them. You’re always competing with yourself,” (nypost.com).
When she wasn’t filming, she was a student. “I’m a big nerd, so I enjoy school a lot.” Skyler Samuels said in 2012 that she’d love to attend Stanford University. “I can only hope to get in. I’m pretty optimistic. I love it here in California.” No word on whether that dream came true.
As for the athleticism required for “Nine Lives of Chloe King,” she said, “I had no background in fighting – or anything athletic, for that matter. And for every episode it’s like we’re compacting an entire action movie in an hour.” The difference between her and her character, she said, is “she’s so adventurous and willing to take a risk. I’m totally cautious…the chick is fearless, and I love it!” She added later, “We’re both quirky, odd-balls that don’t exactly go with the status quo.”
Because “Nine Lives” includes characters with superpowers, Skyler Samuels said, “I wish I had claws just because, how cool would that be? I would probably like to have super-speed, just so I can get more done in a day. It just seems like a much more practical superpower to me.”
In 2011, she was nominated for a Teen Choice Award for Choice Breakout Star. Skyler Samuels is currently single and resides in Los Angeles, California.
