Piper Lisa Perabo is an American actress probably best known for her roles in the USA Network series “Covert Affairs” and the film “Coyote Ugly.” She was a 2011 Golden Globe nominee for Best Performance by an Actress in a Drama Series.
Piper Perabo is a mix of German, English, Irish and Norwegian ancestry. Her parents named her Piper because they wanted to give their daughter an original name (askmen.com). They were originally going to call her India Star until they named her after the classic actress, Piper Laurie.
In high school, Piper was active in musical theatre, as well as a member of the Marinerettas as a dancer in the field show during football games. She was also the president of the National Honor Society and the editor of the high school literary magazine, Polaris. She said, “I was bookish and dorky in high school.”
As for living in Texas, she said, “It’s always hot, dry, sunny, not a cloud in the sky.”
Piper Perabo said she always knew she wanted to be an actress, and directed plays in her family’s living room with kids from the neighborhood when she was only seven (blastmagazine.com).
After she graduating summa cum laude from college at Ohio University (where got earned a BFA in acting), she moved to New York. She got a part in a short film and also landed in “Whiteboz” and “The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle.” She said, “It was really lucky. I happened to be in the right place, right time.”

Piper got her big break in the 2000 movie “Coyote Ugly.” She has also appeared in “Cheaper By the Dozen,” and “The Prestige.” She is a vegetarian and said, “When I’m working, I don’t go out. I’m really not all that fun.” She made her Broadway debut in Neil LaBute’s Reasons to Be Pretty in 2009.
Piper Perabo is currently engaged to director Stephen Kay and resides in New York City.
