Naomie Harris was quoted about growing up: “I don’t know why I was bullied. I was quite shy and skinny. Very nerdy, very bookwormish. I think I was just a target.”

Naomie was born and raised in London and graduated from Cambridge University in 1998 with a degree in social and political science. She said, “It was the weirdest culture. Everyone pretended they didn’t do any work, yet it was so competitive.”

She later studied with the Bristol Old Viv Theatre School. Her first big role came in 2002 in “28 Days Later.” Other roles followed, including parts in “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest,” the film “Miami Vice” and as Eve Moneypenny in the 23rd James Bond film, “Skyfall.”

As for her role in “Skyfall,” her director, Sam Mendes said, “I want you to represent the modern woman.” She trained for two months before filming with a personal trainer, as well as gun training.

As for becoming the first black Moneypenny, Naomie Harris said, "I was brought up in Britain, and I’m very proud of my Britishness and my culture. And Bond is a big part of that…I don’t take it lightly at all.” As for the label of “Bond Girl,” she said, “[It] means glamour, sexiness, classiness and having an enigmatic quality…but I do think they’re the building blocks for me…that’s the starting point, really.”

In an interview from 2002, she said she didn’t go through any rebellious teen phase.

As for her roles in “28 Days Later” and “Skyfall” Naomie Harris agreed, “I’m the woman to be with if there’s any crisis going down,” though she said she did not own a gun in real life.

She credits director Danny Boyle with giving her the career she has. “He’s the guy who – when I had just left drama school – took a risk on me and cast me in 28 Days Later, which changed my life and my career.”

She is quoted as saying “Hollywood friends are only after one thing. They’re looking out for the next big thing, and they don’t want to miss out on you just in case.”

In 2011, she won the Best Theatre Actress Award at The Glamour Women of the Year Awards.

Naomie Harris resides in London, England.
