Miranda Cosgrove began her career when she was three and was discovered by a talent agent. She subsequently appeared in a few commercials. She made her film debut in the feature “School of Rock.” On television, she was on “Drake & Josh,” but it was her role on “iCarly” that made her a star. By 2010, she was earning $180,000 per episode, which made her the second-highest-paid child star. She also sang four songs on the “iCarly” soundtrack.
Miranda Cosgrove said she’s nothing like her Carly character, though. She described herself as determined, dorky and shy. Her own debut album “Sparks Fly” was released in 2010. She said after her experience with “School of Rock,” that it exposed her to classic rock. She said, “After the movie, I discovered Led Zeppelin.”
In 2011, she broke her ankle in a tour bus accident and had to walk with crutches; the rest of the tour was canceled. As a bit of trivia, she is also allergic to cats.
Miranda Cosgrove has kept journals ever since she was little. “Sometimes I write poems and stuff, but for the most part I write down what happens to me during the day that I don’t want to forget. So I have books filled with little things like that.”
She is currently attending the University of Southern California and is majoring in film. In choosing USC over NYU, she said, “I love New York, but I’m scared to move and leave L.A. I do have friends [in New York] but I’m not close to a lot of people.”
As for her future, Miranda Cosgrove said, “I love Kristen Wiig and Steve Carell, ‘cause they write a lot of their own stuff…I would like to do something like that some day if I could.”
Miranda Cosgrove is currently single and resides in Los Angeles, California.
