Megyn Kelly told Elle that she was bullied when she was a pre-teen. “It was a year of torture. That’s the peak year of wanting to be accepted and feeling very uncomfortable in your own skin, not really understanding who you are or where you fit in – if at all.” She said being bullied led her to keeping up her guard for a long time afterwards.

In high school, she played basketball, field hockey and was the captain of the cheerleading squad. Megyn Kelly attended Syracuse University and graduated with a degree in Political Science; she was also a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She then went on to earn a law degree from Albany Law School. She originally wanted to become a D.A., “but in Manhattan that would’ve put me at the federal poverty level, so I took a job with a big old law firm that allowed me to pay the bills.”

Before becoming a news anchor, Megyn Kelly was a corporate litigator and worked as an associate in the Chicago office of Bickel & Brewer and then spent nine years at the law firm Jones Day. She said, “About eight or nine years into it I decided I needed to get out of that, like most lawyers do. When I was thinking about what else I could and would like to do, broadcast journalism was the obvious choice.”

Megyn Kelly got into journalism because “the profession had some nobility in it, but it’s also one in which you have to get your hands dirty.” She began at Fox News as a contributor for the “Special Report with Brut Hume” and “The O’Reilly Factor.”

Megyn Kelly told GQ that she used to teach aerobics. “I was paid one whole dollar to be Backup Girl #1 in a abs exercising video.” As for her visible legs while on air, she said, “Well, it’s a visual business. People want to see the anchor.”

Megyn Kelly has three children: Edward Yates Brunt, Thatcher Bray Brunt and Yardley Evans Brunt. She is married and resides in New York.
