BioMaria has a younger brother and is fluent in Greek. She attended Medford High School.
In 1995, Maria began entering beauty contests. She won the title of Miss Massachusetts Teen USA and competed at Miss Teen USA and placed in the top 15.
She later went to Emerson College, graduating in 2000. During her senior year, she was hired as a reporter for Channel One News. "Entertainment Tonight" hired her as a correspondent in 2002. They offered her a hosting gig, but she left in 2005 to focus on her acting career.
As an actress, Maria Menounos has appeared in "One on One," "Without a Trace," "One Tree Hill," the film "Fantastic Four" and the video game "From Russia With Love." She would later join "Access Hollywood" as a special correspondent. She has also hosted the reunion specials of "The Real World" and "Real World/Road Rules Challenge."
She recently was hired as a co-host on "Extra" and was a contestant on the 14th season of "Dancing with the Stars." Maria Menounos ended up in 4th place.
In an interesting segue, Maria Menounos also made her in-ring debut as a WWE wrestler in 2009, and later continued her "feud" in 2011 with an edition of "WWE Tribute to the Troops."
She has appeared in People Magazine in 2004 as one of the "50 Most Beautiful People." She also wrote "The Everygirl's Guide to Life," which includes tips for obtaining happiness and success. She said, "I think organization is the key to happiness.my life is so much easier, and I can tackle so many more projects and that's why I can do as much as I do in a day, because everything is organized. When you're organized, you're happy. When your house is messy, your mind is messy. It's very important and so underrated and we just sweep things under the rug.or the bed. And we don't understand just how much it really just messes with our psyches" (limelife.com).
As for guys, Maria Menounos said, "I think we kind of have a messed-up approached to romance. We put a lot of pressure on guys to have it all.I just don't understand that..girls want it all, and there is no Prince Charming. You miss out on great guys because you didn't give them a chance."
Maria Menounos admitted during an interview with Howard Stern that she was the victim of sexual abuse and had been violated several times by different doctors, leading her to have a phobia of physicians.
