BioLynn Collins spent many years growing up in Singapore and Japan. She discovered her love of acting during a childhood pageant in which she played the part of Mrs. Claus. She said she was raised in a very, very religious family of Southern Baptists.
After high school, she attended the Juilliard Schools Drama Division and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
Lynn Collins made her debut in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and later starred on stage as Ophelia in Hamlet and Romeo and Juliet. Other roles followed, including parts in Down with Love, 50 First Dates, 13 Going on 30, The Lake House, Bug, and The Number 23 but she is probably best known for her appearances in True Blood, and X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Lynn Collins told blackbookmag.com that while shooting X-Men she came to the set hung-over after nights of partying and binge drinking. It was just a party everywhere because I met a lot of Australians and theyre so much funwhen youre a functioning alcoholic, you can hide it. And I was young enough that it didnt show in my face. But it got to a point where somebody was like, its not cute anymore, and I was like, Oh God.
Lynn Collins was cast as a Martian princess in John Carter. When it got hard I would say to myself, Why am I doing this? I am doing this for girls and women so that they will have something to look to, to be inspired by and so that men would say: I would like to support this kind of woman and I would like to inspire this energy in women. So it became a very spiritual situation which I didnt expect at all (independent.ie).
Lynn Collins is a black belt in Shito-ryu, a style of karate. She also had experience in swordplay after hanging out with her father while he trained in Japan. She does, however, have a fear of heights, which made the leaping scenes with John Carter a bit tricky.
Regarding her career, Lynn Collins said, I never wanted to be cookie cutter, because if I was cookie cutter how could I play the juicy roles? How could I touch people the way I do? How could I play roles where I was ugly? I did this role in Angels Crest and my mother said, God, youre so ugly and I was like YES! Being able to change and touch people is amazing (badassdigest.com).
