Karen Lucille “Lucy” Hale is an American actress and singer probably best known for her role on the ABC Family series “Pretty Little Liars.”
Lucy Hale grew up in Memphis, Tennessee and made her first appearance on TV in the reality show “American Juniors” in 2003. As part of a vocal quintet, she placed in the top five. That launched her into the business, and she had parts in shows such as “Drake & Josh,” “Wizards of Waverly Place,” and “How I Met Your Mother.” Her other credits include “Bionic Woman,” “Privileged,” “Scream 4” and “CSI: Miami,” among other projects.
Though she acts, she calls music her first love and calls Faith Hill and Shania Twain early influences. In 2010, Lucy Hale signed a deal with Hollywood Records and a country album is expected soon. She said, “I just love the thrill of performing on stage. I believe that singing is something I was put here to do.” She said in a separate interview, “I love music so much and that kind of takes away from the fact that I am missing out on some things.”
Lucy Hale said, “I hated school, but I was a good student. I made straight As.” She’s never had a “normal job” – only acting gigs.
She moved to Los Angeles when she was 15. She said about “Pretty Little Liars,” “To prevent leaks, the production staff only gives us scripts the day before we film. It’s crazy!”
For fun, Lucy said, “I feel like I’m still a kid at heart, so I do lots of the same things - I go bowling and to the movies and shopping.”
Lucy Hale said of past relationships, “I’d wrap myself up in my significant other’s life and want to make his world my world. It wasn’t healthy.”
Of her musical tastes, she likes Taylor Swift. “Listening to her songs is like reading a girl’s diary. We’ve gone through a lot of the same relationship things.”
About living in Los Angeles, Lucy Hale said, “There’s jealousy everywhere and tons of politics. The problem is that people in L.A. never really have to grow up. Everyone needs to chill out. There’s room for us all.”
