Laura Wiggins is an American actress. She is known primarily for her role as the sex-addicted Karen Jackson on Showtime series "Shameless."
Laura Slade Wiggins was born on August 8, 1988 in Athens, Georgia where she grew up. Raised in a Southern Baptist household, you would think acting in Hollywood would be the furthest thing for the young blonde's mind, but as it turns out, it was the perfect fit. After moving to Los Angeles, she was able to land a small role in the TV movie "Not Like Everyone Else" before continuing down the path of small television roles. Prior to her breakout role as Karen Jackson on "Shameless" in 2011, she had played several guest spots on series such as "Private Practice" and "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," as well as more TV movies.
Getting back to her role on "Shameless," Laura won the part after several auditions, with one of her final auditions requiring her to perform two scenes centered around her character, who was a sex addict on the series, giving blowjobs. As a testament to her abilities as an actress, she also had to partake in these final auditions while fighting the worst flu she'd ever had to endure. But at the end of the day, it won her the role which ended up lasting for three seasons, ans propelled her career to the next level.
After her "Shameless" tenure came to an end, Laura continued to play guest roles on series such as "Perception" before again obtaining a recurring role on the The CW series "The Tomorrow People." After this, she made a guest appearance for the second time on "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," only she played a different role than she had in her initial 2010 appearance.
