Laura Prepon was born in Watchung, New Jersey on March 7, 1980. She is the youngest of five total children, including three other sisters. While only 15 years old and attending Watchung Hills Regional High School, she began studying acting at the Caroline Thomas' Total Theater Lab in New York City. While there, along with studying modern dance, ballet and jazz, she also stared in several plays, including "A Woman of Property" and "Ascension Day." Her exceptional height for a girl as well as her natural good looks also led to several modeling gigs around the same time, taking her to such exotic locations as Paris, Milan, and Brazil.

Laura's first acting gig was in a commercial for long-distance phone service for the company, MCI. From there, she also managed to star in a music video for a band called the Sneaker Pimps, and even landed a full-on acting gig for a web-based soap opera from Levi Strauss named "They Go On." Of course, Laura's biggest role to date came when creators Bonnie and Terry Turner got their hands on her audition tape, and thought she would be perfect for the role as Donna on what became on of the FOX Network's most celebrated sitcoms, "That '70s Show." Laura went on to portray the character for nine seasons, even after original cast members Topher Grace and Ashton Kutcher had left the show.

Of course, Laura's long tenure on "That '70s Show" led to many more acting gigs along the way. After the series had ended, she wound up as a cast member on the ABC series, "October Road," where she played the character of Hannah Daniels for the show's two seasons. From there, she made several guest appearances on shows such as "In Plain Sight," "How I Met Your Mother," and "Castle" before landing the lead role on the NBC series based on the life and writings of comedienne Chelsea Handler, "Are You There, Chelsea?" Even though this series didn't last very long, it lead to the actress eventually gaining the part of Alex Vause on the Netflix original series, "Orange is the New Black," where she plays a former drug-dealing, lesbian convict.
