Although not very popular in the United States until starring in her crucial role in the 2015 blockbuster "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation," Jingchu Zhang has been making waves in both her native China and Hong Kong alike since hitting the big screen with her award-winning performance in "Peacock" in 2005. Since then, she has gone on to gain more international fame with roles in films such as "Rush Hour 3" and 2010's "Aftershock."

Born in Fujian, China on February 2, 1980, Jingchu went on to attend the Central Academy of Drama in Beijing. Surprisingly, while she went on to become an acclaimed actress, she actually graduated from the prestigious school with a degree in directing. Even more surprising is that as of 2015, she had no professional directing credits to her name.

Jingchu's first major film role in 2005's "Peacock" also happened to be the one she received the most accolades for. Winning both the Asian and Arab Competition Award and Shanghai Film Critics Award for her performance, she followed that up with "Huayao Bride in Shangrila" and "Seven Swords" the very same year. Those two performances collectively landed her nominations for a Gold Rooster Award, Hundred Flowers Award, and Hong Kong Film Award. The following year, her role in "The Road" added a Cairo International Film Festival Award for Best Actress to her growing list of major accomplishments.

While she has gone on to be nominated several more times for awards such as a Golden Horse Award for her work in "Aftershock," Jingchu has since taken strides to gain international fame with her roles in "Rush Hour 3" and "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation." Especially when it comes to starring alongside Tom Cruise in the latter, she will surely reach her goal in no time.
