Jessica Lucas was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on September 24, 1985. She is of mixed race, as her father is black and her mother is white. By age 7, Jessica was already into the acting game, and had begun professional training with Children's Theatre Arts from 1992 to 1994. While in attendance, she acted in local theater productions such as "Grease," "Snow White and the Sevem Dwarfs," and "Cinderella" in order to earn credits.

Before her acting career ever took off here in the U.S., Jessica got her start on two Canadian series. The first was called "Edgemont," a half-hour teen drama that lasted from 2001 to 2005. The other was "2030 CE" in 2002, but it was cancelled the same year.

By 2004, Jessica had landed her first small role on the Showtime series "The L Word." Later that year, she got her first big break here in the states when she was cast on the series "Life As We Know It." Although the show was critically praised, however, it only lasted one season. But by time that series and "Edgemont" ended, Jessica was landing roles in feature films such as "She's the Man" and "The Covenant." She then took a four episode role on "CSI" and was even rumored to be replacing the character of Sara Sidle, which turned out to be untrue.

Once 2008 rolled around, Jessica's career kicked into high gear. Since that time, she has starred on television series "90210," "Melrose Place," "Friends with Benefits" and the recently cancelled CW drama "Cult," as well as films including "Cloverfield," "Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son," and the horror remake "Evil Dead," which received rave reviews. She was recently cast in Paul W.S. Anderson's "Pompeii" and began day one of shooting on April 25, 2013.
