Jamie-Lynn Sigler was born in Jericho, New York on May 15, 1981 to parents Connie and Steve Sigler. Her father, founder of the MSBL (Men's Senior Baseball League), is of Greek Sephardic Jewish and Romanian Jewish descent, while her mother, who converted to Judaism after getting married, is a former native of Cuba. Ironically, even though Jamie-Lynn would eventually become famous for portraying an Italian mafia boss' daughter, she has no Italian heritage in her, once stating that she "couldn't get further from Italian."

After becoming interested in acting and singing at age 7 and starring in such regional stage productions as Annie, The Wizard of Oz, and The Sound of Music, Jamie-Lynn eventually went on to land a small role as Young Angie in the film, "A Brooklyn State of Mind," in 1998. A year later, she was cast in the role that would come to define her career on what is now considered one of the best cable dramas of all time, "The Sopranos." Sadly, quickly after production began, producers considered replacing her as Meadow Soprano due to a very public bout with anorexia. Fortunately, She was able to make a full recovery after undergoing a very rapid weight loss, and eventually became a spokesperson for the National Eating Disorders Association.

Since her role on "The Sopranos," Jamie-Lynn has gone on to star in a number of other television series and films. Most notably, she played a fictionalized version of herself for several episodes during the fifth and sixth seasons of the HBO series, "Entourage." Along with that, she also played a lead role on the NBC comedy, "Guys with Kids," in 2012 until it was cancelled the next year. Jamie-Lynn also had a brief music career in 2001 with the release of her album, Here to Heaven.
