Iliza Shlesinger is an American comedian, originally from Dallas, Texas with her own Netflix special as well as TV show, "Excused," she hosts.
The blonde comedian got her start in private school, performing with her class's improv team. While studying film at Emerson College in Boston, Iliza joined one of the local comedy sketch groups and honed her skills for writing and editing her own material. After graduating, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue comedy, joining a comedy sketch team, The White Boys, which lead her successful into the Hollywood Improv.
In 2007, Iliza won Myspace's So You Think You're Funny contest, which was soon followed by her big success in 2008 as both the youngest and the first woman to win on NBC's "Last Comic Standing." In 2010, she released her first special, "Man Up and Act Like a Lady," online, along with a comedy album "Iliza LIVE." In 2013, Iliza wrote, recorded and filmed her comedy special "War Paint" in her hometown of Dallas, Texas, which was released on Netflix live streaming.
She has several acting credits outside of hosting the TV show "Excused," as well as her appearance on Byron Allen "Comics Unleashed," one of which includes her latest film endeavor in the 2013 Diablo Cody film, "Paradise," alongside another actor/comedian, Russell Brand. Iliza started her own podcast with friends entitled "Truth and Iliza."
