Growing up, Emma Lahana enjoyed music and dance and her first memories include trying to imitate people she saw on television like Judy Garland and Michael Jackson. Inspired by them, she enrolled in ballet when she was three.
When she was five, though, her family traveled to a variety of Pacific Islands.
Aside from dancing, Emma Lahana has also been interested in violin, acting and musical theatre. She got her start on a New Zealand drama called “Shortland Street.” But her big break came in 2003 when she landed the role of Kira Ford.
A bit of trivia: her go-to karaoke son is “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.” And her favorite food, at least a few years ago, was Tofu. “I don’t think anyone in the world consumes as much tofu as I do.” She’s a vegetarian and “that’s how I know if I am in love, if I’m willing to fry bacon.”
She said all of the “proms I’ve ever been to have been fake, TV proms.”
As to her experience on “Power Rangers,” she said, “It was a job. As great an experience as it was, I wasn’t artistically driven to be on it….but [after her experience at Comic Con], “It kind of made me appreciate it more, when you see what it means to some people. I heard from people who said, ‘I was really depressed and the show helped me through a really hard time in my life.’”
Emma Lahana found “all the hero stuff pretty difficult though, cause I wouldn’t know cool if it fell on my head.” She’d love to work with Darren Aronofsky. “He’s my favorite filmmaker.”
When not acting, she runs and works out. “I take ballet classes a few times a week. I’m an avid reader, and really enjoy spending hours in a coffee shop reading books.”
Emma Lahana is currently married and resides in New Zealand.
