Daveigh Elizabeth Chase-Schwallier (later changed to just Chase after her parents' divorce) was born on July 24, 1990 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Unlike most actresses, is was Daveigh's voice that originally began landing her work. From and early age, she wanted to be a performer, citing "Barney & Friends" as her main inspiration because she "wanted to be like them, the kids on the video." Raised in Albany, Oregon after her parents' divorce, her mother signed her up for the Little Miss America Pageant when she was 7 years old, and she wound up winning the national vocal competition.

Following her initial success for her amazing voice, a trip to Los Angeles soon after proved incredibly fruitful, as she was not only cast in a Campbell's Soup commercial, but then offered a lead role in the musical theatre production of "Utah!" at the same time. Her successes didn't stop there, however. In 2002 at the age of just 8, she auditioned for and won the role of Lilo Pelekai in the Disney film "Lilo & Stitch," which even spawned a TV series which she voiced as well. The very same year, she also played the now iconic role of the creepy Samara character in "The Ring."

All of Daveigh's successes on the big and small screen wouldn't have been possible without her initial success as a singer. Around the same time she was landing her first roles on TV shows like "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch," she was singing with a small band opening for singer Reba McEntire, and later sang "Holly Jolly Christmas" on the "School's Out! Christmas" album for Universal Records' Hip-O Records. Later in her acting career, she also famously sang "God Bless America" in Steven Spielberg's "A.I. Artificial Intelligence."
