Although Danica Mae McKellar was born and raised in La Jolla, California, she strived to be an actress even then. So by the time her family moved to Los Angeles when she was eight, it didn't take long before she landed her first role in a television commercial, and then in a series of guest spots on "The Twilight Zone" beginning in 1985. But it wasn't until she was 12 that she got her biggest Hollywood break arguably to date, when she was cast as Winnie Cooper on the iconic series, "The Wonder Years."

Even though she had hit it big as an actress, her family still insisted she and her sister, also and actress, focus on their education. After her run on the popular show ended in 1993, Danica's acting career slowed down as she focused on school. Later, she would attend UCLA and graduate summa cum laude in 1998 with a degree in mathematics. Not only that, but she co-wrote a groundbreaking mathematical physics theorem, the Chayes-McKellar-Winn Theorem, while in attendance.

After graduation, her career became two-tiered: on the one hand, she decided to take up acting once again, and scored several prominent roles on such series as "The West Wing," "How I Met Your Mother," and "The Big Bang Theory." Yet, on the other hand, she still focused on math, eventually authoring four New York Times bestselling books that aim to teach middle school and high school girls math in a fun, entertaining fashion. Her motto is essentially that smart can also be sexy, and she is living proof of that. As of September 7, 2010, you can add a third career to the list, as  this is when Danica gave birth to her son, Draco.
