Daisy Fuentes said growing up, “There was a lot of discipline and obedience and you had to be very ladylike. Ladies didn’t curse and I still don’t curse in front of my parents.”
In high school at Harrison High, she was named homecoming queen (the school’s first Hispanic ever) and graduated in 1984. It was in high school during her senior year that she began modeling. After graduating, she attended Bergen Community College in New Jersey and studied Communications.
While Daisy Fuentes was in college, she was hired as a weather girl for a local Telemundo New York affiliate. She followed that with a move to New York’s Univision affiliate where she was a weather anchor and reporter for the evening news.
In 1988, Daisy Fuentes was hired as a host of “MTV Internacional.” But it was her job as MTV’s first Latina VJ in 1993 that made her a star. She also hosted a modeling series “House of Style.” At her peak, she landed a role on the soap “Loving,” as well as guest roles on a variety of sitcoms and became a spokesperson for Revlon, Pantene and American Express, among other brands.

Aside from hosting, Daisy Fuentes launched her own clothing line in 2004. In 2009, she debuted an all-natural hair-care line, and later, even came out with a workout game for the Wii. Apparently, she sells almost $300 million worth of products in Kohl’s departments stores every year.
Daisy Fuentes stays in shape by using the Winsor Pilates system. “I just thought any workout that is effective and I can do while laying down I’m signing up for.” As for aging, she said, “That’s one of the best things about being older. I’m comfortable with who I am, and I don’t care about fitting into any specific category or size. I can’t say that was always the case.”
