Cynthia Watros grew up in Michigan, and her parents divorced when she was 7 years old. When she was a teenager, she was diagnosed with an immune disease, thrombocytopenia. She got a splenectomy and two years of chemotherapy. As of this bio, it’s in remission. She said that she had lost her hair and gained over a 100 pounds as a result of the disease.


She later attended Community College and then transferred to Boston University School for the Arts and graduated with a BFA.

She made her mark on “Guiding Light” as Annie and earned a Lead Actress Daytime Emmy. Aside from “Lost,” Cynthia Watros has appeared on “Titus” and “The Drew Carey Show,” among other projects. As to her varied work, she said in 2008, “I like to juggle both ends. It’s always fun to make people laugh, and then make them afraid or cry at the same time.”


Of her time on “Lost,” she said, “You always miss the people you work with – the cast and crew. And living in Hawaii is of course an amazing and beautiful experience.” In 2005, she and co-star Michelle Rodriguez were arrested within 15 minutes of each other for drunk driving. Cynthia pled guilty and took full responsibility. She was ordered to pay a fine and enter counseling.


She is the mother of two twin children, Sadie Anna Marie Gilliland and Emma Rose Marie Gilliland. Her husband is Curtis Gilliland, a Los Angeles restaurateur.

When she has free time, she likes skiing and dancing. Cynthia Watros resides with her family in Los Angeles, California.
