Chelsea Joy Handler is an American comedian probably best known for hosting the E! show “Chelsea Lately.” She is also the executive producer of “After Lately.”
Her mother was Mormon and her father was Jewish, and Chelsea is the youngest of six children. (Her brother, Roy, lives in California and has worked as her personal chef.)
Chelsea Handler admitted to getting an abortion at the age of 16, which she discussed in an interview in 2011. She moved to Los Angeles at 19 to become an actress. She waited tables to make ends meet, a job she did until she was 26. “I remember having a conversation with my sister, saying: ‘What if I don’t make it? What if I’m still waiting tables when I’m 35?’ I was just at the end of my rope. But I’ve been at the end of that rope several times.”
At 21, after getting arrested for a DUI, Chelsea took a special DUI class as punishment and earned laughs from her fellow students, inspiring her to begin stand-up comedy.
In 2002, Chelsea landed on the cable show “Girls Behaving Badly,” which earned her other guest spots on “The Bernie Mac Show” and “The Practice.”

She has named “Porky’s” as her favorite movie. Her nickname is “The Sexy Handler.”
Interestingly, Chelsea Handler is only the second woman, after Joan Rivers, to host a late-night talk show. Time magazine named her 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2012.
She has been romantically linked with rapper 50 Cent, and executive Ted Harbert.
She’s said “there are two kinds of people I don’t trust: people who don’t drink and people who collect stickers.”
