Catrinel Menghia was born and raised on a farm in Iasi, Romania. Before ever getting into the modeling game, she was on the verge of becoming an Olympic level athlete, holding the title of number one high jumper in the country. However, that all changed at the age of 16 on a school trip to Bucharest when she was discovered by a fashion scout.
From here, things only went up for Catrinel Menghia. Soon after being discovered, she placed third in Ford’s “Supermodel of Romania” competition, skyrocketing her career. It wasn’t long before being named Romania’s Model of the Year in 2002.
Catrinel Menghia’s new status provided her with a number of new opportunities. Soon, she was appearing in high profile advertisements for such brands as ADK, Levi’s and Valisere. And in 2006, she became the face of Giorgio Armani on a worldwide scale, as well as made an appearance in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. She would make another in 2009.
In 2008, Catrinel Menghia was featured on the September cover of FHM Romania. As well as FHM, she has posed for other famous brands such as Maxim, Stuff, Fitness and Cosmopolitan. As of 2011, Menghia became the new face of Lise Charmel, a French lingerie company. In 2012, she started on a campaign for the new Fiat Abarth, which most notably featured a commercial called “House Arrest,” which Menghia appeared in with Charlie Sheen.

Catrinel Menghia began to pursue an acting career in 2011 and sometimes goes by the name Catrinel Marlon. She was able to land roles in three feature films in a period of just ten months. With her film career on the rise overseas, she decided it was finally time to move to New York City to further pursue acting, as well as continuing to model. In January of 2013, she appeared in an episode of the CBS crime drama, “CSI,” and doesn’t show any sings of slowing down.
