Bio

In 2004 and 2005, Alexandra Jekova competed in the Sandboarding World Championships (who knew?). In 2009, she broke her nose while training. At Winter Games XVI, she became the first Bulgarian to win a medal, capturing silver.

She can speak French, English and Russian, and attended French High School and the National Sport Academy.

Her father Viktor Jekova worked as a head coach of the Bulgarian snowboard team. Alexandra Jekova took up the sport in part because of her father. He was the first Bulgarian to get involved. He bought equipment for her and took her with him as soon as she was old enough. Apparently, she loved the speed and loved to carve (sochi2014.com).

Aside from snowboarding, her interests include windsurfing, motocross, wakeboarding, badminton, tennis, climbing, surfing and biking. She trains in water sports, running, biking and weights. Her hero is Austrian snowboarder Doresia Krings.

When not training, Alexandra Jekova also has a joint initiative called “Amerfoot,” which supports children with impairment. She is single and resides in Bulgaria.
